Teen Driver Basics

Everyone remembers the feeling of freedom that came with getting their license. Unfortunately it’s easy to forget that with that freedom comes a huge responsibility to be a safe driver, not only for you own sake but for the sake of everyone else on the road.

There are statistics out there that show car accidents are the leading cause of death for 15 to 20 year olds. 77% of these were caused by avoidable driver errors. Your insurance rates reflect this and are significantly higher with a junior operator on your policy.

The laws are changing quickly here in Massachusetts for Junior Operators. Fines are increasing, and more than ever the responsibility is on the parent to teach good driving skills, with 40 hours of supervised driving required as well as a 2 hour class for parents on what to teach their children.

Read this brochure for some quick information. For all the details check the Mass RMV website and keep yourself up to date when your son or daughter in getting their license.
