What To Do If You Get Into a Car Accident

We haven’t had much winter weather this year so there’s a good chance we’re not bringing our A game to the roads during today’s storm.  This gives us a good opportunity to review what you should do if you have a crash.

Safety First

  • Move your vehicle to a safe location if possible
  • Find out if anyone is injured
  • Call 911 or emergency services if necessary
  • Contact the police in case an officer at the scene is necessary

Gather Personal Information of Everyone Involved (Including Witnesses)

  • Name
  • Address
  • Phone Numbers
  • Email

Gather Vehicle Information

  • Year, Make, Model
  • License Plate Number
  • Insurance Carrier
  • Policy Number

Document The Accident

  • Take Photos (you have a camera in your glove box, right?)
  • Vehicle Damage
  • Location Information
  • Who was involved

Always remember to never admit fault and contact your insurance agent as soon as possible.  If that agent is us then you’re in luck cause we’re always here to help.  If a police officer is present make sure to also get their contact information and a police report number.  Finally make sure you file an accident report.

As always you can leave us a comment below, follow us on Twitter, or head over to Wolpert.com for anything else.
